The sheving machine is designed for the final processing of gears with shavers. The shaver is a wheel or rail, the teeth of which are cut with transverse grooves to form cutting edges.
When the shaver and the processed wheel, which are engaged, rotate, the teeth slide laterally along their length, and the edges of the grooves on the teeth of the shaver cut off thin chips from the profiles of the teeth of the wheel.
